Having made just seven Premier League starts during the 2024/25 season, you don’t need to be an undercover detective of any repute to know that Jack Grealish has fallen out of favour with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
The England international has reportedly been told that he can leave the club, having been left out of City’s squad for the Club World Cup.
The 29-year-old is a big earner that Pep wants to trim from his wage bill, with Kevin de Bruyne already departing for pastures new as the head coach plots his overhaul of his trophy-less squad.
Finding someone willing to take over Grealish’s reported £15.6 million a year contract will not be easy, so it’s likely that the left winger will need to accept a significant pay cut if he is to find a move to a club outside of Saudi Arabia.
So where next for the mercurial Brummie?
Everton

Everton are the current favourites to sign Jack Grealish from Manchester City
If the bookmakers are to be believed, Everton could be Grealish’s next destination.
However, that feels like a stretch. The Toffees have been desperately trimming their squad and cutting assets in a bid to beat PSR; the failing of which has already led to the club experiencing points deductions.
Everton also lost a reported £53 million during the 2023/24 season… and have a shiny new stadium to pay for.
Unless Grealish is willing to accept the national minimum wage to join the Merseyside club, it seems a leap of faith that he’ll be joining Everton this summer.
Tottenham
Grealish to Tottenham is just one of those transfers that looks right to the eye, with the Londoners able to provide the 29-year-old with the Champions League football that he craves.
Spurs are not thought to be in any danger in terms of PSR rules, while qualifying for the Champions League will enable them to spend more liberally this summer than they otherwise might.

The main issue might just be Son Heung-min, who remains Tottenham’s talisman on the left wing and club captain. The usual transfer rumour merry-go-round is suggesting that the Korean could leave this summer… if he does, Grealish would be a ready-made replacement.
Aston Villa
A return to his home city and boyhood club might just appeal to Grealish, with a switch to Aston Villa possibly the catalyst for a career renaissance.
He would become a starter straight out of the gate, you’d imagine, as Marcus Rashford did during his loan spell, although there will be no Champions League football at Villa Park next term.
The question marks are whether Unai Emery rates Grealish highly enough to splurge on his mammoth salary, plus the fact that Villa are said to be one of the Premier League clubs most at risk of breaching PSR.
Newcastle United
If anyone can afford Grealish’s wages, it’s the Saudi Public Investment Fund that owns Newcastle United.
And yet, despite their riches, the Magpies are yet to really express themselves in a big way in the transfer market – instead, head coach Eddie Howe has added the occasional new piece to his jigsaw.

A first trophy in 70 years and Champions League qualification during the 2024/25 season would suggest that the strategy is working, so signing Grealish would be wholly out of character for the North East club.
Napoli
Having been linked with a move for Kevin de Bruyne this summer – Grealish’s equally well-paid Manchester City teammate, Napoli have clearly got money burning a hole in their metaphorical pocket.

It has been suggested that the Belgian has already agreed a move to Naples, which would surely scupper any chance of Grealish heading to Italy.
But, as is always the case in the summer, you never quite know what is transfer news and what is transfer fiction… maybe there’s legs in the Grealish to Napoli stories if they don’t sign De Bruyne instead.
Any Saudi Arabian Club
The bookies are clubbing together all of the Saudi Arabian Pro League clubs in their Jack Grealish next club betting odds, so this could be an interesting punt to consider.
A number of them would be able to afford his wages, of course, so the 29-year-old could secure a move to the Middle East without having to sacrifice his sizable pay packet.
Any desire on Grealish’s part to move to Saudi would be determined by where he feels his game is at; does he still crave Champions League football?
Ivan Toney has proven that you can still secure an England call up even while playing your club football thousands of miles away, so the question now is whether there’s enough money in Saudi Arabian football to tempt Grealish to leave the Premier League behind.
