It’s hard enough predicting the winner of a single league ante post (discounting the Premier League of course), but one punter has casually made the rest of us look silly by winning a 6-fold acca, correctly predicting the winner of the Scottish Championship, Scottish League One, Scottish League Two, the EFL Championship, EFL League 1, and EFL League 2.
They have, probably quite sensibly, remained anonymous, but they must be delighted with that £20 wager they placed before the 2021/22 campaign kicked off.
The odds for the acca were as follows:
- Kilmarnock – Scottish Championship – 4/5
- Cove – Scottish League One – 3/1
- Kelty Hearts – Scottish League Two – 4/6
- Fulham – EFL Championship – 9/2
- Wigan – EFL League 1 – 11/1
- Forest Green – EFL League 2 – 12/1
This gave combined odds of a massive 15,444/1, and would pay out £308,000 if it came in, which as we know, it did.
Tony Kenny, a spokesman for William Hill, confirmed the win and said in a statement:
“Many of our customers chance their arm with big-priced accumulators on who will win a selection of football leagues from around the world, but few of them come off,” said William Hill spokesperson Tony Kenny.
“The punter staked just £20 on the bet back in August and after a late Forest Green equaliser, they are waking up over £300k richer.”
What’s even cooler about this win, is that the bet was settled on the very last day of the League 2 season, and in dramatic fashion too.
Forest Green Rovers were the last team our bettor needed to tick off on their betslip, and when an 80th minute equaliser from Josh Marsh got Forest Green the point they needed to secure the top spot, it also made one very talented bettor over £300k richer.
What’s more, they only won it on goal difference as Exeter were level with them on 84 points!
