Plenty have tried, but few have successfully been able to pull it off.
But this past weekend, one Betfair punter entered their name into the football betting hall of fame by correctly predicting the outcome of all ten Premier League games played.
Their prize? An acca win of a rather handsome 46,000/1, enabling them to turn their 20p stake into a payout of a cool £9,362.
Here’s the tale of the tape from an extraordinary long weekend of EPL betting brilliance.
Saturday Superstar
The action got underway, as the best accas tend to do, on Saturday.
Brentford hosted Manchester United in the lunchtime kick off, with United installed as the narrow favourites by the bookmakers.
But our punter was paying no heed, piling into the Bees at 21/10. And they would have been buzzing as an Igor Thiago double put Brentford 2-0 up early on, before Benjamin Sesko pulled one back for the Red Devils.
It remained 2-1 for what felt like an eternity, before Mathias Jensen put the win beyond doubt with a third in injury time – after Bruno Fernandes had missed a penalty for United.
This bold Betfair customer is clearly no shrinking violet when it comes to backing underdogs, as they also took Brighton and Crystal Palace to beat Chelsea and Liverpool respectively in the 3pm kick offs.
That alone would have been a handsome double, as the Seagulls scored twice in injury time through Danny Welbeck and Maxim De Cuyper to win 3-1 at Stamford Bridge, while across London it was a first defeat of the season for Liverpool as Eddie Nketiah notched a 97th minute winner for Palace.
Less surprisingly, they backed Manchester City to beat Burnley – which they duly did 5-1, courtesy of an Erling Haaland double, before yet another injury time goal, this time from Eli Junior Kroupi, secured a point for Bournemouth at Leeds United… just as our punter had predicted.
They fancied another underdog victory in the tea-time kick off on Saturday, with Sunderland travelling to Nottingham Forest. And the Tricky Trees’, erm, tricky start to 2025/26 continued as Omar Alderete nicked the winner in a tight 1-0 triumph for the Black Cats.
Mind you, the Betfair customer had their choice of bookmaker to thank for keeping their acca alive on Saturday night.
They had boldly backed Wolves to win at Tottenham, but – once again – that looked to be a masterstroke with the Midlanders ahead late into the game thanks to Santiago Bueno’s goal.
Their heart would otherwise have been broken by Joao Palhinha’s injury time equaliser. However, Betfair’s 90 Minute Guarantee – which sees bets paid out as winners if the selection is correct when the clock strikes 90 – meant that Wolves were settled as a win in this scenario.
So that was a remarkable Saturday for our punter… with another rollercoaster 48 hours to come.
I Don’t Like Mondays
Into Sunday are intrepid punter went, with Fulham’s trip to Villa Park first on the agenda.
Aston Villa hadn’t shown a great deal of form leading into the game, but it all seemed to click for Unai Emery’s men as Ollie Watkins ended his lengthy goal drought to equalise Raul Jimenez’s early strike.
The Villains came flying out of the blocks in the second half, with John McGinn and Emi Buendia scoring twice in the space of two minutes to give Villa a handy cushion.
And while Fulham dominated the final 20 minutes of the game, they were unable to reduce their arrears.
The penultimate Premier League fixture of the weekend saw Newcastle United welcome Arsenal to St James’s Park. And boy, was our punter made to sweat after backing the Gunners to prevail.
Newcastle took a first-half lead through Nick Woltemade, and it would remain that way until the 84th minute, when the unlikely figure of Mikel Merino netted an equaliser for Arsenal.
Injury time was ebbing away when the Gunners won a set piece, and – wouldn’t you just know it – the ball would find its way to Gabriel, who nudged home a 96th minute winner.
Presumably, Betfair offered their customer a tempting cash out amount to close the bet early. But, credit to the individual, they let their final selection – a draw between Everton and West Ham on Monday evening – play out.
When Everton took the lead, they may have been ruing that decision given the hapless nature of the Hammers’ campaign so far. But Jarrod Bowen popped up with a timely goal for West Ham, as he so often does, and the game petered out into a 1-1 stalemate.
So thanks to a hefty slice of late drama and an agreeable promotion from Betfair, the punter walked away from a chaotic weekend of Premier League action more than £9,000 to the good!
