Punter Lands £3k Acca Win… Despite One of Their Picks Losing!

Football and Goal Against Stadium

Although it might be argued that the bookies aren’t quite as generous as they once were with their promotions, those offering early payouts for certain conditions being achieved continue to turn punting nightmares into a dream come true.

A number of bookies, for example, will pay out early on some bets when a football team takes a two-goal lead… even if the selection goes on to lose, they will still pay out as if it was a winner.

Another operator, meanwhile, have been running a promo all season long, which sees some bets winning after 90 minutes paid out – even if a goal (or more) is scored during injury time.

And it was on that premise that one customer was able to land a £3k payday from a £20 stake on the Premier League’s midweek action… despite one leg of his four-fold acca actually going on to lose!

Quick On the Draw

X Under SpotlightAll four of the games were played on Tuesday January 14, in what would prove to be a highly entertaining – and financially rewarding, in this example – evening of action.

Manchester City were the visitors to Brentford’s G-tech Community Stadium, with our acca backer clearly not getting carried away by the relative renaissance of Pep Guardiola’s side lately.

Although the Bees themselves hadn’t been buzzing heading into the game, they do have an excellent home record this term – W7 D1 L2 – and that was enough to give our punter optimism that this contest would end in a draw.

A goalless first half helped somewhat in that regard, but a quickfire Phil Foden double appeared to have ended this acca coupon out of the gate.

But Brentford fought hard, pulled one back through Yoane Wissa and continued pressing for the equaliser, with City’s players once again looking nervous and fraught when closing out the game.

Perhaps it was no surprise then when a cross from Keane Lewis-Potter was headed home by Christian Norgaard in injury time.

Nottingham Forest have been one of the Premier League’s surprise packages so far this term, and our punter felt they could get something out of their home date with Liverpool – again, they opted for the draw on their coupon.

The Tricky Trees went ahead in the eighth minute through Chris Wood, which set in motion a sort of attack vs defence game, in which Forest defended deep in numbers and Liverpool attempted to break them down.

This could have easily been one of those contests that ends 1-0 in favour of the side taking the early lead, but the Reds did manage to create some decent chances – with Diogo Jota making the most of one of those in the 66th minute.

With no further scoring action, our punter’s acca was up and running with the two draws landing.

Magic Moments

Next up, the return to management of Graham Potter at West Ham. Could he magic up a winning start?

Our acca backer had indeed wagered on the Hammers to get off to a winning start under their new boss, despite Fulham – inconsistent, but certainly very capable – being the visitors to the London Stadium.

However, things could not have gone more swimmingly, as goals from Carlos Soler and Tomas Soucek handed the Hammers a half-time lead.

Fulham pulled one back early in the second period through Alex Iwobi, but when Lucas Paqueta stepped up to restore West Ham’s two-goal cushion, it seemed that the contest was all but over.

There would be another twist in the tale, with Iwobi netting a second from another Antonee Robinson assist, so our punter was left crossing their fingers, toes, eyes and everything else that the Hammers would hold on.

And they would… just about.

All of which saw the acca through to its fourth selection, with our punter going against the odds to back a Bournemouth victory at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea.

It was a bold play, even accounting for Chelsea’s slight loss of form lately, and when Cole Palmer put the Blues ahead, our punter must have been fearing the worst.

But Bournemouth stuck to their task, and got their reward when Justin Kluivert was able to convert from the penalty spot.

Two moments of magic for our punter – the referee refusing to send off the Cherries’ David Brooks for manhandling Marc Cucurella, and Antoine Semenyo’s glorious long-range goal – got them ahead of the game, and they (assuming they were aware of the promo) would have been left counting down the minutes.

Eventually, the end of normal time arrived and they became £2,995.58 richer… despite the fact that Reece James went on to score a 95th minute equaliser for Chelsea!
