It’s always great fun documenting epic accas on this page that have taken the bookies to the cleaners.
And do you know what’s better than reporting on one life-changing accumulator win? How about two in the space of just a couple of days!
That is exactly what has happened over the past week or so, as first a SkyBet customer cashed out on their nine-fold to win a few quid shy of £50,000.
And then, just four days later, a William Hill punter pulled off something similar – netting £30,360 from their mammoth 17-fold match result coupon.
Let’s take a moment to celebrate these two gargantuan wins in their own right.
A Smart Decision
The SkyBet customer had curated a betslip of match result and both teams to score selections.
They travelled across Europe for their picks, calling upon games in the EFL Cup, Copa Del Rey, Coppa Italia, Coupe de France, Scottish Premiership and Portugal’s domestic cup competition, the Taca de Portugal.
If all nine of their picks had been successful, the punter would have banked just shy of £250,000. But they decided to cash out with one game looking particularly flaky… and it was a good job they did.
| Match | Score | W/L |
|---|---|---|
| Man City v Newcastle | 3-1 | Won |
| Rangers v Kilmarnock | 5-1 | Won |
| Livingston v Falkirk | 1-2 | Won |
| Hibs v Dundee United | 3-2 | Won |
| Valencia v Athletic Bilbao | 1-2 | Won |
| Alaves v Real Sociedad | 2-3 | Won |
| Nice v Montpellier | 3-2 | Won |
| Inter Milan v Torino | 2-1 | Won |
| Fafe v Torrense | 1-1 | Lost |
Some of their selections landed with ease. Manchester City were 3-0 up after 32 minutes against Newcastle in their EFL Cup semi-final, with the Magpies netting a second-half consolation goal to satisfy the needs of our punter.
Meanwhile, Rangers handed Kilmarnock a 5-1 tonking, although our punter would have been nervous as the ten-men underdogs didn’t look likely to score – until Greg Kiltie found an unexpected route to goal in the 84th minute.
All told, our SkyBet customer faced a rather nervy time of times as six of their remaining seven selections all led by just a one-goal margin.
Athletic Bilbao didn’t net their winner against Valencia until the 96th minute – Inaki Williams obliging after Bilbao had earlier missed a penalty, while Nice’s thrilling 3-2 victory over Montpellier was secured by a 97th minute goal… talk about leaving it late.
Our punter needed Real Sociedad to beat Deportivo Alaves, but found them 1-2 down with just 15 minutes left to play. Goncalo Guedes equalised, before Orri Oskarsson completed the turnaround – when your luck is in…
Falkirk at least provided some respite, as they romped into a 2-0 lead after 25 minutes. Livingston pulled one back early in the second half, but that’s the way the scoring would stay.
There was a similar pattern in the Coppa Italia quarter-final between Inter Milan and Torino, with Inter running into a 2-0 lead before Torino pulled one back – that game also ending 2-1.
But any respite was soon relinquished as Hibernian and Dundee United played out the closing stages of a barnburner. With the score at 1-1 with just ten minutes left to play, both teams went into chaotic overdrive – Dundee taking the lead after 81 minutes, Hibs equalising after 89 before, as our punter no doubt danced a jig of delight, going on to net a 93rd minute winner via Ante Suto.
Eight in, one to go… but there’s a catch.
The contest between Fafe and Torrense is locked at 1-1, with the stats suggesting that neither side looks likely to score. So our punter decides to lock in a cash out – a cool £49,626, to be exact.
That Taca de Portugal tie did end in stalemate… a result that could have cost them the best part of £50k!
Easy Threesy
Meanwhile, the William Hill customer was enjoying some crossover with their SkyBet counterpart.
The games mentioned involving Man City, Inter Milan and Rangers were also on their lengthy 17-fold match result acca.
But they spread their wings far and wide, encompassing games in the Greek Super League and Saudi Pro League as well.
The William Hill customer enjoyed a fine time of things; in fact, this was a dreamy acca, given that 14 of the 17 teams they had backed to win went on to do so by two or more goals – making things rather less nervy.
Amongst those was Arsenal’s 3-0 dismantling of Sunderland and Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham, with Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid winning 5-1 and 5-0 against Hoffenheim and Real Betis respectively.
Of the remaining three games on their acca, only Inter’s 2-1 win over Torino provided any genuine fear. And with the Celtic vs Aberdeen game postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, that leg was voided to leave our punter a cool £20,360.
But, courtesy of William Hill’s acca boost promotion, that was topped up to a rather handsome £30,360.
