UK Punter Turns £1 Into £7,500 with Successful Championship Correct Score Acca

2-1 Scoreline Against Football Pitch

Anyone that has played the free correct score prediction games available at a number of top bookies will know how tough it is to get one or two final scores correct in any given weekend.

But to get four right!? And all on the same betslip? That’s the stuff of punting dreams.

One Betfair customer did exactly that at the weekend; keeping things simple by backing four teams playing at home in the Championship to win 2-1.

According to SoccerStats, that exact 2-1 scoreline has happened in 9% of Championship games this season, which is the third most regular scoreline in the second tier of English football behind 1-1 (14%) and 1-0 (12%).

But at odds in excess of 7,500/1, this was clearly an acca with an obscenely low probability of success.

However, the very occasional big wins that get reported often require a punter to bet on strange and unexpected outcomes, and that’s what happened at the weekend when this Betfair customer turned £1 into £7,573.53!

So here’s the tale of the tape of their extraordinary win….

Cardiff City 2-1 Derby County

We’ll start with the game that made our punter sweat the longest, with Cardiff taking that 2-1 lead in the 70th minute of the contest.

The acca looked to be on the way out when this contest went to its half-time interval at 0-0, but a firecracker of a second half burst into life when Callum Robinson – the match winner in Cardiff’s win over bitter rivals Swansea City the week before – put the Bluebirds ahead after 62 minutes.

The Welsh side doubled their advantage just two minutes later through Anwar El Ghazi, which seemed to put an end to the game as a competitive affair – Derby, after all, had lost five games in a row prior to this one.

The Rams did manage to pull one back courtesy of Lars-Jorgen Salvesen, which meant that our punter had 20 minutes – plus injury time – to sweat out the possibility of a fourth goal being scored.

Fortunately for them, that was the end of the scoring… Cardiff took the win by that needed 2-1 margin.

Bristol City 2-1 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn, with three defeats in their four prior Championship outings, headed to Ashton Gate low on confidence.

And the hosts went ahead early in the piece thanks to a sublime free-kick from Scott Twine.

The Robins were the better side throughout the first half, but they couldn’t find a second goal and were punished in the 40th minute when former Bristol City striker Andi Weimann came back to haunt his old club with an equaliser.

Blackburn pushed for a second after half time and threatened the future of our punter’s four-fold as they missed a couple of glorious chances.

But it was Bristol City substitute Nakhi Wells that would prove to be the difference maker. He was slotted through on goal and made no mistake, firing low into the corner to restore the hosts’ lead at 2-1.

And the Robins were able to see out the remainder of the game securely and complete the victory.

Preston North End 2-1 Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough, with hopes and expectations of finishing in the play-off places this season, went to Deepdale as the favourites with the bookies to win this one.

But our punter put their faith in Preston’s solid home record (W6 D7 L2) at Deepdale and was rewarded with an underdog win.

The Lancashire side struck first through Stefan Thordarson, who capped a fine solo run with a precise finish in the 28th minute.

Middlesbrough came out for the second half with new energy, and were rewarded for that with an equaliser early in the period – Delano Burgzorg with the tidy strike.

You’d probably have made Boro favourites to go on and claim the three points, but credit to Preston, for whom Stefan Riis drilled a low shot into the corner of the net after 78 minutes for an unlikely, on paper at least, 2-1 win.

Coventry City 2-1 Watford

After 74 minutes of this clash, Coventry City led 1-0… at this point, our punter must have been losing faith.

But up stepped Victor Torp, who had netted the opener, to double Coventry’s advantage with a beautiful free kick.

Former Tottenham man Moussa Sissoko forced Liam Kitching to put through his own goal after 82 minutes, before Watford pressed hard for the equaliser.

And it looked like they had one when Giorgi Chakvetadze fired at goal… only for Sky Blues goalkeeper Oliver Dovin to pull off a spectacular save.

The full-time whistle blew thereafter and Coventry were 2-1 winners… while our Betfair customer was more than £7,500 richer. Not bad from a £1 longshot acca!
