On the 10th of March 2018, the Scoop6 entered its’ tenth week without being won, but that was all about to change.
The day started well for punters when 4/1 favourite Colt Lightning won the first race and took almost 25% of the 214,960 units through to the next round.
Only a shade over 4.5% of the remaining punters had backed the winner in race 2 though, so when Sam’s Gunner romped home at 12/1 just 2,511 of the 55,177 units remained in the race.
A 20/1 horse called Mr Antolini won race 3, which decimated the pool further taking just 1.83% of the remaining units into race 4.
With only 46 units left and 3 races still to run, this was in danger of becoming a 10th wipeout in a row, and although the 2nd favourite won race four, only 13 units had backed it.
Another 2nd favourite won race five, the 15:00 at Sandown Park, and that helped 2 units squeak through to the final race of the competition, but with 9 runners taking part there was a very strong chance that the winner would not be backed.
The two remaining units were split, one backing the favourite, Mickey, and another backing the 2nd favourite, Lancelot Du Lac.
Luckily for one bettor, Lancelot Du Lac was the fastest in the day, meaning the entire £735,915.20 prize pot was won as a single dividend, although nothing is know about who that individual (or syndicate perhaps) who took the money.
