William Hill, like many UK licensed bookmakers, offer an Acca Boost promotion.
This takes the shape of an additional payout on top of any winnings you may accrue, based upon the number of legs in your accumulator.
At William Hill, for example, you get a 5% boost on winning accas of four legs, 7.5% on five legs, 10% on six-legs… and so on, right the way up to a 100% enhancement if your betslip has 15 or more selections on it.
There are terms and conditions too; for instance, Hills have a £10,000 maximum boost limit in place.
To the best of our knowledge, they’ve never had to pay out that full amount before… until one lucky punter landed an incredible 15-fold both teams to score accumulator at the weekend.
From a stake of £10, they would land a base prize of £16,000 from their 15 selections… boosted to more than £26,000 courtesy of the promotion.
| Stake | Winnings | Boost | Total Returns |
|---|---|---|---|
| £10 | £16,836 | £10,000 | £26,836 |
Goals Galore
It would take an eternity to shine a light on all 15 games selected by the Hills customer for their coupon.
Some of their most high-profile action unfolded on UK soil, with the entertaining 2-2 draw between Leicester City and Stoke City on Saturday lunchtime – Stoke went 1-0 up, 1-2 down and then equalised in the 89th minute – leading the way.
Europe’s ‘big five’ leagues were represented too. BTTS obliged in the first half of the German Bundesliga encounter between Koln and Hoffenheim, with former Liverpool youngster Ozan Kabak on the scoresheet in a 2-2 draw.
In La Liga, Real Betis were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Rayo Vallecano, with both teams once again scoring in the first half – a contest which saw former Manchester United winger Antony reduced to tears.
Other top-flight action saw Ajax’s downturn continue in a 1-1 draw with NEC Nijmegen, while over in Portugal there was a humdinger between Braga and Vitoria de Guimaraes – the hosts led 2-1 after just 32 minutes, before two more goals saw Braga run out 3-2 victors.
Continental stop-offs in Belgium, Italy and Spain also brought more joy, as did a trip to Turkey as Alanyaspor went down 1-2 in front of their own supporters against Istanbul Basaksehir.
But, as it transpires, some of the most nerve-shredding moments for our William Hill punter came right here on UK soil.
A Welcome Boost
There’s nothing quite like a 3-3 draw to settle the nerves of a BTTS punter.
So take a bow Peterborough United and Exeter City, who played out a remarkable rollercoaster on Saturday. Posh took the lead before the Grecians romped into the lead via an eight-minute hat-trick from Jayden Wareham.
Peterborough roared back to draw 3-3, but by that point our punter was no doubt past caring.
Altrincham and Braintree’s National League clash on Saturday may not have been high up on your personal agenda.
But our punter would have been glued to it… and thankful when Braintree found a second half goal to reduce Altrincham’s lead to 1-2, while ensuring BTTS landed.
Both teams had found the net within 27 minutes of Truro City’s clash with Gateshead – at least the away fans made the 450-mile trip home happy after running out 2-1 winners. That, by the way, is the longest distance travelled ever by away fans for an English league contest.
Around 47 miles separates Maidstone from Dorking, so at least supporters of the latter were able to get home inside an hour – traffic permitting – following their 1-1 draw.
If you’re still with us at this point, that’s 13 both teams to score selections in the can out of 15.
But now the clock is ticking, and the 90th minute mark has come and gone in our punter’s remaining two picks.
Hereford are throwing the proverbial kitchen sink at Scarborough Athletic, who lead 2-0. But then the ball falls kindly to Lewis Hudson, who nets what would provide to be a 93rd minute consolation.
The clock continues to tick, with the anonymous William Hill customer surely now catatonic as they await further updates from the game between Crawley Town and Chesterfield.
They’re into the 95th minute at the Broadfield Stadium, with the ball finding its way to Ronan Darcy out wide. He fires in a cross and Jay Williams wins the header, slamming the ball into the back of the net.

Cue pandemonium… and that’s just in our punter’s living room! £10 in, £16,836 out… add on top the £10,000 Acca Boost bonus and that’s a fine day’s work indeed.
